Dahlia 'American Dawn' – rich colours that softly blend into each other
Dahlia 'American Dawn' is a decorative dahlia that envelops your garden in a soft glow of coral, apricot, and lavender. The 15cm diameter flowers display a smooth color transition from warm coral and peach tones to a soft purple center. They are borne on sturdy, dark stems of about 100cm tall and bloom profusely from midsummer until the first frost.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'American Dawn' blooms profusely and for a long time. The full flowers, with subtly curved petals, allow colors to softly blend, as if capturing the morning light in their shades. Thanks to its sturdy stems, this dahlia is excellent as a cut flower: in a vase, it creates a warm and vibrant look, while in a border, it adds depth and character to the garden.
Location and care
This dahlia prefers a sunny spot and grows best in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant the tubers in spring 40 cm apart and a few centimeters deep, with the old stem just above the ground. Keep the soil moist, especially during dry spells, and remove spent flowers to encourage new blooms.
In winter, it's advisable to dig up the tubers after the frost and store them in a frost-free place. In mild winters, you can leave them in the garden under a protective layer of leaves or straw.
