Why you want Dahlia Bishop of Canterbury in your garden

Dahlia 'Bishop of Canterbury' – magenta flowers on dramatic dark leaves

Dahlia 'Bishop of Canterbury' is a visual ode to contrast and refinement. Its single flowers display a purplish-red magenta glow that contrasts beautifully with the intense dark green leaves. The long stems allow the flowers to float elegantly above the foliage, adding depth and ambiance to your garden.

Flowering and growth
This dahlia blooms profusely from early summer to autumn and attracts many bees and bumblebees thanks to its open flower shape and abundant nectar. The airy flowers dance in the breeze above the dark leaves.

Location and care
Dahlia 'Bishop of Canterbury' requires a sunny spot in well-drained, rich soil. Plant the tubers in spring at a depth of about 10 cm, spacing them about 40 cm apart. Regular watering during dry spells promotes flowering, and removing spent flowers encourages new buds. Over winter, you can safely store the tubers or, in mild winters, leave them in the ground with protection.

Why choose Dahlia 'Bishop of Canterbury'?
The interplay of magenta flowers and beautiful dark green leaves makes this dahlia unique and enchanting. Its abundant nectar makes it a favorite with pollinators—bees and bumblebees enjoy visiting its flowers until late summer.

Combination tip
I think the dark magenta color of Dahlia Bishop of Canterbury looks very nice with the dark purple flowers of Dahlia Thomas A. Edison.
