The Dahlia 'Café au Lait' is one of the most beloved dahlias. Its flowers open in a soft pink, and as they mature, the color palette shifts to soft, creamy coffee tones. The color gradient and large flowers make it unique and create a peaceful, dreamy atmosphere in the garden.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Café au Lait' is a dinner-plate dahlia. The flowers can reach a diameter of 25 centimeters, comparable to a dinner plate. They stand upright on long stems, making them ideal as cut flowers. This dahlia continues to bloom from July until the first frost. If you regularly cut flowers for a vase, the plant will continue to produce new buds all summer long.
Location and care
Plant the tubers in spring in a sunny spot, in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant them about ten centimeters deep and give them about 40 cm of space to develop. Water during dry spells and remove spent flowers to prolong flowering. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with mulch in mild winters.
