Dahlia 'Café de Paris' – soft pastel shades with a cactus-shaped twist
The Dahlia 'Café de Paris' stands out with its unique, slightly ruffled petals in soft pastel shades. Upon opening, the flowers are creamy to dusky pink with a hint of lavender. The petals are slightly more pointed and have a gentle wave, giving this dahlia a more modern look than its famous sister, Café au Lait .
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Café de Paris' produces large flowers 15 to 20 cm wide. They stand firmly on long stems and, with their unique shape, add structure to the border. The plant grows to about 1 meter tall and blooms profusely from July until the first frost. By regularly cutting flowers, you'll continue to get new buds throughout the summer and late summer.
Location and care
This dahlia prefers a sunny spot in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant the tubers about four inches deep in spring and give them plenty of room to grow. Water during dry spells and prune dead flowers to encourage flowering. After the frost, dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free place, or leave them in the ground with a protective layer of mulch in milder winters.
