Dahlia 'Danique' – terracotta red with dark contrasting leaves
Dahlia 'Danique' immediately stands out with its warm color and unique flower shape. Its medium-sized flowers, about 14 cm across, have elongated petals that taper slightly. The color is a rich terracotta red, with a deeper shade of red on the underside of the petals. Together with the darker foliage, this creates a beautiful contrast.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Danique' is a prolific grower that blooms continuously from summer until the first frost. The flowers are carried high on strong stems and are slightly upward-facing, making them a beautiful addition to both the garden and bouquets. At approximately 110 cm tall, this impressive plant adds structure and height to any border. Its dark foliage makes it particularly elegant and deters slugs.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in a sunny spot in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant them about 10 cm deep and allow them plenty of room to grow. Water during dry spells and remove spent flowers to prolong flowering. In winter, dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free location, or protect them with mulch in milder winters.
