Dahlia 'Dark Spirit' – deep burgundy ball-shaped flowers
Dahlia 'Dark Spirit' is small in size but has a grand presence. Her perfectly round flowers, about 10 cm across, are a deep dark red, almost black, and have a soft, velvety sheen. Its compact size and intense color make it a dahlia that instantly adds depth to any border or bouquet. She looks stunning when paired with dahlias in warm hues.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Dark Spirit' is a prolific variety that blooms from summer until the first frost. The plants grow to about 90 cm tall and produce an abundance of flowers on long, sturdy stems.
Location and care
Plant the tubers in spring, after the last frost, in a sunny spot in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant them about 10 cm deep and give them about 40 cm of space to grow. Provide extra water during dry spells and cut away dead flowers to encourage flowering. In winter, dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free place, or protect them with a layer of straw in mild winters.
