Dahlia 'Erpeler Ley' is a must-have in the garden. Its long, pointed petals twist and curl playfully, reminiscent of the beloved Dahlia Labyrinth . The color palette makes it even more special: apricot, honey orange, raspberry pink, and even a hint of copper. Together, they create a warm and vibrant display that will remain a striking feature all summer long, right up to the first frost.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Erpeler Ley' is a cactus dahlia with large flowers up to 20 cm wide. It blooms from late July and continues until the first frost. The plant grows tall, about 150 cm, making it perfect for the back of a border. It's a prolific bloomer; the more often you cut back the flowers, the more new buds will appear. The flowers remain beautifully upright on its sturdy stems, even after a summer rain shower.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny spot. Plant them about 10 cm deep and give the plants plenty of space. Provide extra water during dry spells and remove spent flowers to prolong flowering. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with mulch in milder winters.
