Dahlia 'Frank Holmes' – small symmetrical pompoms in a soft lilac color
Dahlia 'Frank Holmes' is small in size but grand in appearance. Its flowers are perfectly round, only about 5 cm across, and have a soft lavender-pink color. The result is a playful pompom that dances in the garden on long, slender stems. Its attractive, smaller flower shape makes it stand out among the larger dahlias and also makes it long-lasting in a vase.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Frank Holmes' is a pompom dahlia that blooms all summer long, until the first frost. The flowers are small and perfectly formed, creating a playful effect when combined with other, often larger, dahlia flowers. The plant grows vigorously, forms a full bush, and is known for its high production: the more often you pick, the more new flowers appear. With a height of about 120 cm and sturdy stems, it also makes a beautiful addition to a bouquet.
Location and care
Plant the corms after the last frost in well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny spot. Plant them about 10 cm deep, keeping them well away from other plants. Water regularly during dry spells. Removing spent flowers extends the flowering period and encourages new buds. A tall plant like 'Frank Holmes' may benefit from some support to help it stay upright, especially in strong winds.
