Dahlia 'Gerrie Hoek' – a soft pink water lily dahlia
Dahlia 'Gerrie Hoek' is a true classic and has been one of my favorites for years. This water lily dahlia has soft pink flowers reminiscent of blossoming trees in spring. A light yellow hue fills the center, giving the flowers a touch of depth. The flowers are 15 cm in diameter, flat, and beautifully oriented upward on the stems. This creates a lovely airy appearance, and the flowers dance beautifully above the green leaves.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Gerrie Hoek' blooms from summer until the first frost and produces an abundance of flowers. The more often you prune, the more new buds will appear. The flowers are flat and open, rising beautifully above the leaves. At about 100 cm tall, it's beautifully compact and combines well with other dahlias.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. Give the plant some extra compost in the spring and ensure plenty of water in dry weather. Dahlias don't like wet feet, so make sure the soil isn't too heavy. Regularly prune flowers for vases to keep the plant blooming until the first cold nights.
