Dahlia 'HS Date' – apricot orange flowers with dark leaves
Dahlia 'HS Date' is one of those varieties that instantly adds character to your garden. Its apricot-orange petals have a reddish hue at the base, forming a warm ring around the dark center with golden stamens. It also stands on glossy burgundy-red leaves that perfectly contrast with the light flowers. Snails and slugs leave the dark leaves alone, while bees and bumblebees enjoy the nectar. Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'HS Date' blooms continuously, from summer until the first frost. The flowers are about 6 cm across and appear in large numbers on sturdy, dark stems about 70 cm tall. Its open flower shape attracts bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Thanks to their compact growth and sturdy stems, they require little support and are also perfect for pots. Water during dry spells and remove spent flowers to prolong flowering.
