Dahlia 'Isabel' – lilac ball-shaped dahlia with a hint of bronze
The Dahlia 'Isabel' is, for me, one of the most beautiful ball dahlias. Its flowers are perfectly round and consist of tightly arranged petals that each display a different color. On the outside, you see a soft lilac hue, subtly fading to a warm coral and bronze color on the inside. Depending on the light and the stage of flowering, an apricot glow sometimes appears.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Isabel' blooms all summer long until the first frost, producing flowers about 10 cm across. The plants grow to about 120 cm tall and bear their flowers on long, straight, and sturdy stems. This makes them not only a striking addition to the border but also a perfect cut flower. The more often you pick them, the more new buds will appear.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in well-drained soil and choose a sunny spot. Regular watering during dry spells helps maintain abundant flowering. Removing spent flowers encourages new blooms, allowing you to enjoy them all summer long. In winter, dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free place or protect them with mulch.
