Dahlia 'Princess Nadine' – warm purple shade with an open heart
Dahlia 'Princess Nadine' has a name that sounds like it's straight out of a Disney fairy tale. In my opinion, this matches the fairytale-like warm colors of this flower. Its 12cm flowers are a warm apricot pink, developing a purple-fuchsia hue as they mature. The open yellow center is filled with nectar, so you'll attract butterflies, bees, and buzzing bumblebees all summer long.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Princess Nadine' blooms profusely and for a long time, from summer until the first frost. The plants grow to about 100 cm tall and stand firmly on their stems. The flowers have a playful contrast, with their golden centers surrounded by a collar of rolled petals. This gives them a fuller appearance than many other single-flowered dahlias. They also retain their beauty for a long time in the vase, making them a popular cut flower.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in sunny, fertile, well-draining soil. Provide some extra water during dry weeks. Removing spent flowers encourages new buds and prolongs flowering. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with a thick layer of mulch during mild winters.
