Dahlia 'Romance' – sturdy dahlia in salmon, peach shades
Dahlia 'Romance' feels like a love letter in flower form. Its color alternates between my favorite shades of salmon pink and peach. Its medium-sized flowers, about 15cm long, are beautifully shaped, as if each petal had been rolled up and placed on the flower with tweezers. The flowers are held high on strong, long stems, making them a perfect cut flower.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Romance' blooms all summer long, from July until the first frost. The plants grow to about 120 cm tall and produce an abundance of long-lasting flowers. Thanks to their sturdy stems, they're an ideal cut flower. The more often you cut them, the more buds will return, giving you new flowers all summer long.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in a sunny part of the garden, in loose, fertile soil. Provide some extra water during dry weeks to keep flowering vigorous. Regularly removing spent flowers will encourage the plant to continue flowering. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with straw in mild winters.
