Why you want Dahlia Rosario in your garden
Dahlia 'Rosario' – salmon-pink flowers with an orange center
I added Dahlia 'Rosario' to my dahlia collection for its beautiful soft hues, but especially for its unique flower shape. The petals are slightly pointed and point upwards, giving the flower a resemblance to a lovely, double peony. The soft salmon pink color has a subtle apricot glow as it opens. The flowers are 12cm in diameter and are held aloft on sturdy, long stems.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Rosario' blooms profusely from July until the first frost, producing a constant stream of flowers. At about 100cm tall, it's quite compact and also thrives in pots. The more often you prune the flowers, the more new buds will emerge, keeping the plant productive all summer long.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in loose, well-drained soil and place them in a sunny spot. Regular watering is important during dry periods. Removing spent flowers prolongs flowering and encourages new buds. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free place, or protect them with a thick layer of mulch in mild winters.
Combination tip
I personally find it beautiful in combination with deep burgundy varieties such as Dahlia Rip City , or I prefer a combination with the soft pastel shades of Dahlia Henriette.
