Dahlia 'Strawberry Cream' – a dahlia in a sweet pink color
Dahlia 'Strawberry Cream' doesn't just sound like dessert—it looks like it too. Its flowers, about 8 cm long, have a soft pink-to-white gradient, as if someone had brushed strawberry cream over them. It blooms early in summer and continues to produce new flowers throughout the garden.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Strawberry Cream' is a compact plant, reaching about 90 cm tall, and produces an endless number of flowers. Because the flowers all point upward, they stand out beautifully in the center of a bouquet. Its long stems make it perfect as a cut flower: the more you cut it, the more new buds it will produce.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in loose, well-drained soil and give them a sunny spot. During dry weeks, they appreciate some extra water. Cut away dead flowers to prolong flowering. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them in a frost-free place, or protect them with mulch in mild winters. Thanks to their compact size, they also do very well in a large pot.
