Why you want Dahlia Wine eyed jill in your garden
Dahlia 'Wine Eyed Jill' – blush pompom with a wine-red heart
Dahlia Wine Eyed Jill is an old favorite. It produces 10cm-wide pompom flowers in a soft creamy pink with a deep wine-red center. Each flower is slightly different, as if someone has applied soft color nuances with a brush.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Wine Eyed Jill' grows to about 100 cm tall and stands firmly on its stems. It blooms profusely from summer until the first frost, and as with all pompom dahlias, the more often you prune, the more flowers it will produce. It's a reliable, productive variety that will fill your border with round, perfectly formed flowers all summer long.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in loose, well-drained soil and give them a sunny spot. During dry spells, extra water is important. Cutting off spent flowers will significantly extend the flowering period. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with a thick layer of mulch during mild winters.
Why choose Dahlia 'Wine Eyed Jill'?
Its blush-colored petals with a contrasting wine-red center make it versatile in combinations.
Combination tip
I think she looks beautiful in a pastel-burgundy colour palette, for example together with Dahlia Rip City.
