Dahlia 'Wizard of Oz' – baby pink pompom-shaped flowers
Dahlia 'Wizard of Oz' looks like cotton candy transformed into a flower. It might sound cliché, but once you see the flowers, you'll agree. Its perfectly round flowers, approximately 8 cm long, are a soft, sweet baby pink. The petals curl beautifully inward, forming almost perfect round balls—a classic in the dahlia collection.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Wizard of Oz' grows to about 100 cm tall and produces an abundance of flowers from summer until the first frost. The strong stems keep the pompoms upright, ensuring they remain standing even after a rain shower or summer wind. It's a very productive variety; the more often you cut back the flowers, the more buds the plant will continue to produce.
Location and care
Plant the tubers after the last frost in a sunny spot with loose, fertile soil. During dry spells, provide some extra water. Remove spent flowers to prolong flowering and encourage the plant to produce more buds. In winter, dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or protect them with a thick layer of mulch during mild winters.
