Dahlia 'Yvonne' – salmon-colored water lily dahlia
Dahlia 'Yvonne' is my new favorite. Its flowers, about 12 cm long, have a warm color palette that transitions from a warm apricot to a soft salmon during bloom. The wide, flat petals give it that typical water lily shape, allowing you to see right into the center. The beautiful shape of the flowers allows them to rise above the leaves, which is what I love most about it.
Flowering and growth
Dahlia 'Yvonne' grows to a height of about 120 cm and produces flowers from summer until the first frost. The flowers stand upright on long, slender stems, ideal for cutting and arranging. The more often you remove flowers for a vase, the more the plant will reward you with new buds.
Location and care
Give it a sunny spot in loose, well-drained soil. Plant the tubers after the last frost and provide some extra water during warm, dry weeks. By removing dead flowers, you keep the plant's energy focused on new blooms. In winter, you can dig up the tubers and store them frost-free, or cover them with a thick layer of mulch in mild winters.
